Stand Up and Be Counted

It is hard for me to believe I am seeing a day in America where traditional, Christian moral values are seen as bigoted by a significant number of the population that clearly is growing.  As I have been watching the news this morning it has already been reported to me that any references to God on our government monuments and buildings are being removed, William Ayers is an intellectual talent to be revered, and the "Ban on Same Sex Marriage" protesters are violently expressing their displeasure because of the democratic decision determined by the people's vote prohibited the passing of Proposition 8, although narrowly.

What am I thinking when I hear all of this?  Well, I must admit my thoughts are pretty basic.

Regarding references to God:  Those in positions that are able to make decisions either do not believe God exists or at very least do not have a proper view of God.  I do not understand how it is overlooked the blessing and hand of protection that God has put on this land.  From its inception, there are clear indications of the strong belief our Founding Fathers had in God.  The nay-sayers will denounce my profession by proclaiming my ignorance since "I cling to my guns and my religion", but just simply to remove God is frankly suicide. Deny it all you want and hope I am not right, but I want to encourage you to think long and hard about that which I write.

Regarding William Ayers:  Honestly, who is this guy?  Is that what you do when you don't agree with our government (and none of us agree with the government all the time)?  Hey, I don't like the bailout plan so let's go blow things and people up.  Okay, I just equated his stance against the Vietnam War with the Bailout Plan placing them on the same plane.  I do not intend to speak so cavalier about that, but regardless the seriousness of the issue, I do not understand how it is right to make bombs and blow things up due to a personal belief you may have.  Most alarming, the guy seems to be pictured as successful and admired by the larger community.  In fact, if I did not have such a strong belief on appropriate behaviors as it relates to my fellow man, I can see how this guy is appealing the way he is painted. Who does not like to associate with intelligence and he is certainly painted to appear "intelligent"?  At the end of the day, the guy's past is not to be celebrated or accepted people!

Regarding "Ban on Same Sex Marriage" Protesters:  Even if you do not like the decision, work to influence change without violence if that is what you want to do.

Finally, I do have a moral standard that is based upon my Judeo-Christian beliefs.  That does not make me a hater.  That makes me love my neighbor as I love myself.  Do I want others to share my beliefs? Yes, 'cause if I did not believe in my beliefs then I would not believe them, right?  And key to my belief through faith is there is only one way. So, if there is only one way and I know that way, does it stand to reason I feel compelled to share that with you? Certainly.

What is my point?  I guess my biggest point is for the greatest country to continue as the greatest country, we need our moral strength.  Having moral standards and standing for those morals is cause for celebration and not discouragement.  I am looking for folks that are bold and unapologetic in standing for their beliefs.  There is right and there is wrong and wrong should not be accepted.

The only way we change is those who cling to a moral right must stand proudly in their sound beliefs.  We are giving up ground that is going to be hard to recapture.  Or we can sit idly by and watch what we fear become reality right in front of our eyes.  Which are you?

2 Chronicles 7:14  "If my people, which are called by my name, shall humble themselves, and pray, and seek my face, and turn from their wicked ways; then will I hear from heaven, and will forgive their sin, and will heal their land."
